Gravilles quarry in Fayet, the ball of inconsistencies.
By prefectural decree of February 25, 2025, a public inquiry relating to the environmental authorization application filed by the company CYMARO for the opening and operation of a basalt materials quarry at the place called "Les Gravilles", commune of Massiac, is prescribed for 33 days, from March 24 to April 25, 2025 5 p.m. inclusive.
Previously, multiple twists and turns have punctuated two public inquiries on the subject.
On March 1, 2022, the investigating commissioner concluded by issuing an unfavorable opinion.
On November 1, 2022, a new investigating commissioner also issued an unfavorable opinion based on the reservations expressed by the Prefect on accessibility.
Today, a new public inquiry without much change compared to the other two.
The “Gravilles” quarry will be served from the RD 21, from a road route.
which is developed exclusively on the territory of the commune of Massiac:
The communal road n° 59 (known as “Route de Fayet”), which is entirely covered with asphalt;
The rural roads CR 21 and CR 22 which will benefit from a reinforcement of their structure, without
widening, thanks to the installation of a layer of compacted all-run materials
Except on 09/09/2020, a report from the DREAL, states:
Access via Fayet would be possible, but too impactful for local residents and requiring too much development work according to the operator.
